Building the Barbershop 3

So I haven't abondoned my barbershop. In the contrary I have spent every spare moment painting and sanding and painting again...then sweeping, and then spackling and then sanding and then priming and painting...well you get the picture. Every time I close my eyes I see the shop, its been pretty consuming, but I have pulled myself away for some awesome things as well. I am in midterm week, and today I just wrote my first test, and I have another on Wednesday. Man cannot live on joint compound dust and paint fumes alone.

Sometime near the end of the month I will have a soft opening and work out some kinks, then have an open house/grand opening. But that may change.

Here is some updated pics of my place so far...

So this is the first painting stage. I picked the colour, primed the mud and slapped it all on. I really like the semi-gloss. I am so used to eggshell, I forgot that gloss has a really rich look. Anyway, the mural in the bathroom is gone and the yellow and teal is mostly gone.

I set up my chair and a few things just to see what I was working with and also to remind me why I am doing all this work in a rental flat.

I was at the local hardware store and they had a sale on MDF casing, so I thought I would buy a gang of it and hang it on the walls. I always liked that look, so I used it as trim and moulding. This also meant I had to paint the rubber baseboards that were already on.

Absolute carnage. But somehow heaps better than when I got it.

Here is my wonderhelper Claire. She is sick with influenzeumoniazema but she still looks amazing and she is crawling on the floor priming the baseboard.

Thats it for now. I have a lot more stuff to do this weekend. Tiling my bath, finishing the flooring and some cleaning.
