Hey everyone! With my new barbershop I have also set up a new website.
The Barber Of Isleville
It's in a blog format, and it's still in development. Fret not, I will keep this as my personal blog, but they probably wil be pretty interchangeable.

Guy Builds a Lamborghini in his Garage.
I saw this amazing thing while I was surfing the World Wide Webs, apparently this guy was taught as a kid that if he wanted anything, then he needn't buy it, but make it. By make it, I mean create it out of spare parts and bits you find laying around and So this guy decides that he wants a Lamborghini. And he builds one in his basement in between changing his babies diapers and mowing the lawn and holding down a full-time job. And when he is finished he knocks down the wall and has it dragged from his basement with an excavator. Wow... here are some pictures.

Update and Links
The time is nigh! I am almost legal to open my business, and the anxiety is mounting. Truth be told, I am in a pretty good position by not sticking my neck out too far, but with any new enterprise and new entrepreneur, I am attaching my personal identity to the success of my business. The worry is that if I were to fail, were I to sit waiting for customers night after night, weekend after weekend and no one shows, then I might be inclined to take it personally! But because my business is also my residence, and as of yet, I have not used credit for anything, I own it outright - which is something many business owners aren't able to say.
I watched the Obama infomercial last night. It was glossy and slick and it moved me. Thats good propaganda. Obama is going to win, but I am certain something will happen to mess it all up.
I think I might open this Friday.
Fun Links:
Vagina Euphimisms. Some of them are really really funny.
Shaky Model. The video is hilarious, but the newscaster's response is even funnier.

Building the Barbershop 4

My barbershop is almost ready. I gave 2 haircuts to friends this week, and I am rusty...its going to take me a little to get into the swing of things... but hair grows back... I keep telling myself - they will keep coming back.
I have satellite TV and high speed internet service being hooked up on Thursday, my business registration and GST/HST number is being processed. A few odds and ends, and I will be an honest to God entrepreneur soon.

Building the Barbershop 3
So I haven't abondoned my barbershop. In the contrary I have spent every spare moment painting and sanding and painting again...then sweeping, and then spackling and then sanding and then priming and painting...well you get the picture. Every time I close my eyes I see the shop, its been pretty consuming, but I have pulled myself away for some awesome things as well. I am in midterm week, and today I just wrote my first test, and I have another on Wednesday. Man cannot live on joint compound dust and paint fumes alone.
Sometime near the end of the month I will have a soft opening and work out some kinks, then have an open house/grand opening. But that may change.
Here is some updated pics of my place so far...

I set up my chair and a few things just to see what I was working with and also to remind me why I am doing all this work in a rental flat.

I was at the local hardware store and they had a sale on MDF casing, so I thought I would buy a gang of it and hang it on the walls. I always liked that look, so I used it as trim and moulding. This also meant I had to paint the rubber baseboards that were already on.

Here is my wonderhelper Claire. She is sick with influenzeumoniazema but she still looks amazing and she is crawling on the floor priming the baseboard.

Thats it for now. I have a lot more stuff to do this weekend. Tiling my bath, finishing the flooring and some cleaning.

So this is the first painting stage. I picked the colour, primed the mud and slapped it all on. I really like the semi-gloss. I am so used to eggshell, I forgot that gloss has a really rich look. Anyway, the mural in the bathroom is gone and the yellow and teal is mostly gone.
